@pf: I didn't watch much of lost past the first season, so I'm out of the loop there;
@jezlyn: there are folks happy because Obama is in as a issue of race; and that excites them; despite my ethnicity, I don't count legacy as what one does when placed into any position, but what they have left when they are done there. Hence, my happiness is quite in the "wait and see" mode; I'm more concerned that people are missing the point of being called out to accountability, not seeing that change really has to start with the man in the mirror (to quote MJ).
I see what you mean, @arjw. I actually was joking about you not being excited about Lost, but your explanation makes sense. :) Obviously Obama isn't a miracle worker. He's a newbie, and there are a lot of tough problems going on right now. But I have faith that he and his cabinet will approach these problems with logic and deliberation, not "shoot first and ask questions later" mentality. And while his election to the office is historical because of his race, I am more interested in him because of the type of leader he seems to be, not because he's African-American. He and Michelle Obama seem to be such human, genuine people. Not the weird robots Bush, his wife, and the Cheneys seemed to be.
@arjw while i agree with @jezlyn, it's also really exciting to have a president who we are proud of, instead of ashamed. We can quote lines from Obama's speeches. that in itself is exciting.
Maybe its just that I lose interest so fast in things; I mean, 24, Lost, etc. I just cannot seem to let them keep my attention span, I'd rather learn and apply what I just saw than sit on another season, ya know ;)
