Awesome, just updated my N78 via my T-Mobile USA Edge data connection and it went smooth as silk. Now this is the way firmware updates should happen. Free me from the Windows PC please :)
Isn't this a first for any mobile platform? I think so.
@Palmsolo - can you give any more thoughts? Were all of your apps/settings/that sort of thing still in place afterwards? How long did it take over EDGE?
@rcadden: Well if it's 2MB, as the linked post says, it's even more interesting. Apparently only updated the bits and pieces it needed to, no more firmware re-writing.
This is not a first for any mobile platform. Palm OS devices, yes, those ancient devices have been supporting OTA firmware updates for the past 2+ years (since the last GSM update to teh Treo 650).
Everything was there just as before, even my Gmail login, standby screen settings, profile settings, EVERYTHING I can think of!
It took about 5-8 minutes total time over EDGE and was painless for me. I really should have videoed the process and posted it, but I am at work and wouldn't be able to do that until late tonight.
What, Palm OS devices can connect OTA? (Just kidding of course). It has been so long since I have used a Palm device that I didn't know they could do this.

Not a first in technology, just a first in S60 application. They finally did an OTA upgrade!!!

@rcadden: I'd expect it just fixed bugs and added some enhancements (if any). Bluetooth, music, camera were mentioned.

@bvlad - agreed. I wonder if they picked up anything from Maemo, as the latest update to the Internet Tablet uses this method, as well.

I seem to remember my n80 having OTA updates until nokia pulled support for it and just went with the regular pc updates.

@whatleydude: Who let Bill S. Preston, Esquire in?

@steves71: Right, N80 was the first device to have the feature. Now it's on the platform (S60 3, FP2) so can expect to be more widely deployed.
